A partner with the Firm, Michael Gibson serves as a civil litigator and concentrates his practice in the areas of construction law, business litigation, and general tort liability defense with a specific focus on business versus business disputes involving contracts, real estate and insurance issues.
Mr. Gibson joined Higgs, Fletcher & Mack in 2004 after several years of defending developers and general contractors in construction litigation. During law school, Mr. Gibson served as an extern to the Honorable Carolyn Turchin, Chief United States Magistrate, Central District of California.
Since 1998, Mr. Gibson's balanced practice has allowed him to represent local and international companies, owners (both public and private), developers, general contractors and subcontractors, both as plaintiffs and defendants. He handles complex litigation involving a wide variety of commercial, construction and real estate matters through alternative dispute resolution, litigation and appeals, in both State and Federal Court. Mr. Gibson also represents clients before the California Contractors State License Board and other administrative agencies.
In addition, Mr. Gibson provides advice to clients from pre-construction through project completion, including contracting, licensing, bidding, compliance with prevailing wage laws, change orders, construction site accidents, payment and performance bond issues, and claims.
