Daniel C. Herbert

Dan Herbert joined the Firm as an associate in 1994 following seven years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps. While serving with the Marine Corps, Colonel Herbert served as an infantry officer and judge advocate. He commanded Charlie Company, First Reconnaissance Battalion, First Marine Division during the Persian Gulf War. Upon returning to the United States, he was assigned to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, where he prosecuted numerous courts-martial and directed a legal assistance program for dependents and retirees. Colonel Herbert now serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

Mr. Herbert became a partner of the Firm in 1998. His practice is devoted exclusively to Family Law and he chairs the Firm’s Family Law Practice Group. He represents clients in need of counsel in personal family matters, to include litigation and transactional issues. Mr. Herbert provides aggressive, no nonsense representation to his clients and prides himself on the efficient and effective resolution of the most difficult kinds of disputes.

Mr. Herbert is an instructor in Family Law issues and has been, for many years, a primary instructor in Family Law at the Naval Justice School’s California Legal Assistance Course. He is frequently invited to address groups of all kinds in matters related to Family Law. He has also served as a judge pro tempore in the San Diego Superior Court.

Mr. Herbert attended the University of San Diego to obtain his undergraduate degree in accounting and his law degree. As an undergraduate, he played intercollegiate football and was named to the Kodak College Division All-America Team as a defensive back in 1981.
