Paul J. Leeds

Paul Leeds is a partner and member of the Business Litigation Department and Bankruptcy and Insolvency Practice Groups at Higgs Fletcher & Mack.  Mr. Leeds is a commercial litigation attorney with special emphasis in business disputes and insolvency matters, including Chapter 11 reorganization.  Mr. Leeds advises and represents his clients, who include business owners, investors and creditors, with regard to management disputes, creditors rights, commercial contract disputes, foreclosure, bankruptcy, reorganization, collections and other business matters.  Mr. Leeds also represents clients in governmental and military matters, including cases involving security clearances, administrative actions, and criminal matters.  Mr. Leeds is an experienced trial attorney, having tried over twenty cases to verdict in state, federal and military courts, and has argued before the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit’s Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.

Mr. Leeds received his BA from the University of Notre Dame in 1989.  Prior to joining Higgs Fletcher & Mack, Mr. Leeds spent thirteen years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He served as a ground communications officer with the 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division from 1990 until 1993, where he served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  During 1993, he was selected for the Funded Law Education Program and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder.  After earning his JD in 1996, Mr. Leeds was assigned for six years as a military prosecutor and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney.  During 2001, Mr. Leeds was recognized by the American Bar Association as the Outstanding Young Military Lawyer for the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Leeds remains active as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve.  He teaches evidence and trial procedure through the San Diego Inns of Court, and sits on the board of directors of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum.
