Kristin E. Rizzo

Kristin Rizzo practices in the area of civil tort and business litigation, with concentration in health care law, employment law and personal injury.  Ms. Rizzo is licensed to practice law in the State of California and practices in both the State Court of California and the United States District Court, Southern District of California. 

Ms. Rizzo handles a variety of complex litigation matters.  Her practice involves providing advice on strategic options, as well as litigating matters through alternative dispute resolution and trial in both State and Federal Court.  Her experience includes:

  1. Representation of individuals, businesses and companies in general tort and contract litigation.

  2. Representation of individuals and companies in wrongful termination and wage and hour class action matters.

  3. Drafting and Negotiation of Employment agreements and contracts.

  4. Representation of physicians and hospitals in professional negligence litigation and business disputes.

Ms. Rizzo is a Bar leader and an active participant in the legal community.  Ms. Rizzo serves the San Diego County Bar Association as President-Elect of the Young/ New Lawyers Division, and will serve as President of the Division in 2010.  She has created and developed Continuing Legal Education programs and serves on Legal Education Advisory Committees, Leadership Outreach Committees, as well as Finance Committees for the San Diego County Bar Association.  Ms. Rizzo is also a member of the California and American Bar Associations' Civil Litigation and Labor and Employment Law sections, the American Inns of Court, William B. Enright Chapter, and the Lawyers Club of San Diego. 

Ms. Rizzo received her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego, School of Law.  While in law school, Ms. Rizzo externed at the United States District Court for the Honorable Nita L. Stormes and clerked at the United States Attorneys Office Civil Division.  During law school, Ms. Rizzo also led the Appellate Moot Court Board both as Vice-Chair and National Team competitor. 

A San Diego native, Ms. Rizzo attended the University of California at San Diego.  She graduated cum laude with the dual degree of Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations and Spanish Literature. 

Ms. Rizzo frequently donates her time to the University of San Diego, School of Law as a volunteer judge for Mock Trial and Moot Court Competitions.  She is also committed to mentoring young lawyers, and serves as a mentor for the State Bar Association and the Lawyer’s Club of San Diego.  Ms. Rizzo is fluent in Spanish and enjoys cycling and hiking with her family.
