Sam Baxter joined Higgs, Fletcher & Mack in 2006 as an associate. Mr. Baxter’s primary practice is civil tort and business litigation. He has handled a wide range of cases including mass tort and products liability, personal injury, employment and discrimination litigation, trademark and unfair competition litigation, and bankruptcy.
Prior to joining Higgs, Fletcher & Mack, Mr. Baxter served as associate general counsel for Metabolife International, Inc. from 1999 until 2005. Metabolife International, Inc. was a large dietary supplement company based in San Diego. Mr. Baxter played a key role in the establishment of the in-house legal department and was responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of all litigation, including ephedra mass tort, products liability, breach of contract, anti-trust, unfair competition, and employment. He also directly supervised the hiring and management of outside counsel in approximately 30 states, in over 500 separate lawsuits. Since joining Higgs Fletcher & Mack, Mr. Baxter has played a key role in coordinating the successful defense of another dietary supplemental manufacturer, its officers, directors and vendors, in over 30 product liability cases pending in San Diego Superior Court.
Mr. Baxter is a member of the business litigation, tort and insurance, products liability, and health care practice groups. He graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1997.
