Mr. Freestone has been in practice for over 15 years. He represents and advises large and small employers, corporations, healthcare practitioners and companies in complex civil business disputes, litigation and trial. In addition to business disputes, he represents clients on employment-related litigation involving claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, and wage and hour violations. Mr. Freestone has also provided counseling to employers to avoid employment-related claims, and has represented employers involving employment-related civil restraining orders.
Mr. Freestone has successfully argued cases at the Court of Appeal. Mr. Freestone's efforts have resulted in published appellate decisions, including Bennett v. Shahall (1999) 75 Cal.App.4th 384, and Palmer v. Superior Court (2002) 103 Cal.App.4th 953, in favor of Higgs Fletcher & Mack clients.
Mr. Freestone received his bachelor degrees (two) from UCLA, and his law degree from the University of San Diego. He was trained by the best in legal advocacy and civility. He was a judicial extern for Associate Justice Judith L. Haller of the Fourth District Court of Appeal, and as a new lawyer, was trained by then Higgs Fletcher & Mack partner, and now Judge, Hon. Gregory W. Pollack.
Mr. Freestone is actively involved and respected within the legal community. He was recently elected by his peers to serve on the San Diego County Bar Association's Board of Directors. Mr. Freestone is the former chair of County Bar's Ethnic Relations and Diversity Committee, former chair of the County Bar's Diversity Fellowship Program, and also serves as a board member of the Tom Homann Law Association.
For 2014, Mr. Freestone was selected as a "Super Lawyer." Each year, no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research committee at Super Lawyers to receive the prestigious designation.
Mr. Freestone is an avid surfer, skier, and backpacker, and has committed his time to maintaining the integrity of our environment.
