Paul Leeds is a commercial litigation attorney with special emphasis on business disputes and insolvency matters, including Chapter 11. He represents individual and corporate clients in disputes over management, collections, contracts, foreclosure, bankruptcy, reorganization and other business matters. His clients include individual owners, investors, trustees, receivers, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Leeds also represents clients in governmental and military matters.
Mr. Leeds is an experienced trial attorney, having tried over twenty cases to verdict in state, federal and military courts, and has argued before the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit's Bankruptcy Appellate Panel. In contested matters, he has obtained rulings and verdicts exceeding $8 million on behalf of his clients. He has represented creditors committees and debtors in Chapter 11 cases with direct claims exceeding $40 million.
Mr. Leeds is known for his no-nonsense, cost-effective approach to litigation and dispute resolution.
Mr. Leeds is active in the Marine Corps Reserve, where he is the head of litigation for the reserve government activity supporting worldwide military prosecution efforts. He teaches evidence and trial procedure through the San Diego Inn of Court, and is a member of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum.
Prior to joining Higgs Fletcher & Mack, Mr. Leeds spent thirteen years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. After earning his JD in 1996, Mr. Leeds was assigned for six years as a military prosecutor and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney. During 2001, Mr. Leeds was recognized by the American Bar Association as the Outstanding Young Military Lawyer for the U.S. Marine Corps.
